RSE Training

RSE Training for teachers is provided by the SPHE support service www.sphe.ie.
There are a number of sexual health training courses available for youth workers: 

National Youth Council of Ireland

The b4udecide.ie/Delay Training and accompanying resources will explore the concept of delaying early sex among young people.  Training for youth workers on this resource is offered by the NYCI and to enquire directly with them on 01 4784122 to arrange a course.

Course Fee: Free of Charge 
Designed For:  Anyone working with young people in a youth work, out-of-school or non-formal education setting. 
Numbers: Maximum of 20 participants.

HSE– South

The HSE South Health Promotion Department run a 10 day Sexual Health Promotion Foundation Programme. This is a comprehensive foundation training programme for professional and voluntary service providers in the HSE South area, who wish to develop their confidence, skills and knowledge in the area of sexual health promotion. 

A number of programmes are delivered annually throughout the HSE South in Cork, Kerry and Waterford. The course fee currently being covered by the Health Promotion Department thus there is no participant fee. For application details contact:

HSE – Dublin/North-East

Dublin AIDS Alliance: Sexual Health & Drug Awareness Training

An eight-week training for trainers programme sponsored by the NICDTF and facilitated by Dublin AIDS Alliance which runs one day per week for eight weeks and is FETAC Level 5 accredited. The primary aim of the programme is to provide youth workers with information and resources to work with young people in relation to sexual health and drug and alcohol use. Dublin Aids Alliance: Safer Sex Negotiation Skills Training

A seven-day training for trainers programme sponsored by the NICDTF and facilitated by Dublin AIDS Alliance which runs one day per week for seven weeks and is FETAC Level 5 accredited. The primary aim of the programme is to provide youth workers with information and resources to work with young people in relation to sexual health and safer sex negotiation skills. HSE - Dublin Mid-Leinster 

The Health Promotion Service run a 2-day multidisciplinary training programmeAll in a Nut Shell Sexual Health Matters” the programme devised from local training needs, is tailored to suit staff who are involved in personal development work with clients, and to those, who may be required to give advice or deliver inputs on relationships and sexual health.  The two-day course is free to all participants.

HSE South: Squashy Couch Adolescent Sexual Health Programme, Training for Trainers

This training is delivered over 3 consecutive days and is specific to adolescents. It includes a 6 week sexual health programme for adolescents, which has been designed for young people based on their stated needs. The course is provided by the Squashy Couch Adolescent Health and Information Project jointly funded by the HSE South and the Crisis Pregnancy Agency. Sexual Health Centre Training

AIDS Care Education & Training Ireland

ACET (AIDS Care Education & Training) Ireland offers sexual health training to youth workers across Ireland. ACET’s specific area of expertise is in working with faith based organisations (FBO) in developing sexual health policy and practice. IFPA Sexual Health Training

The IFPA offers a sexual health training programme that covers the basics of reproductive and sexual health. This course is suitable for anyone who wants to know more about sexual health or service providers such as teachers, carers, youth workers and HSE staff. The session can be tailored to the needs of the participant group.

The next Sexual Health Training Course takes place every 6 months. Venue: IFPA Head Office, Pearse Street. Dublin 2.
